Expansion of Academy will improve player and coach environment at critical age groups
FC Boston Bolts are proud to announce as a member club of US Soccer’s Development Academy the addition of U12 and U13 age groups for the 2016-17 season. The Bolts are the only club in Massachusetts to offer the complete pathway for boys with U12, U13, U14, U16 & U18 Development Academy teams. The expansion to U12 will incorporate the same Academy philosophy as the older age groups, providing this critical younger age with an improved environment to enhance player and coach development. The players will train more often, while also playing fewer – but more meaningful – games every week, which will provide the American player with the opportunity to learn and develop to reach their full potential.
“The Bolts are the only club in Massachusetts that has a U.S. Soccer pathway from U12-U18, no other club can offer this. I am confident that our coaching staff will continue to develop many more players into college and beyond,” said Brian Ainscough, FC Boston Bolts Executive Director.
In 2016-17 Bolts Development Academy team birth years will be:
- U12 for boys born in 2004
- U13 for boys born in 2003
- U14 for boys born in 2002
- U15/16 for boys born in 2000/2001
- U17/18 for boys born in 1998/1999
Marco Koolman, Bolts Academy Director said, “With this opportunity we can start with development of our grassroots level players and provide them an easier entry way into the Development Academy. Consistency in the process of player development is extremely important for the player, coach and the club; for any player to do this at the highest level of youth soccer at one club is a dream come true.”
