FC Boston Scorpions are delighted to announce they have partnered with New England Futsal (NEF) to incorporate proper futsal methodology into its curriculum. Futsal helps develop the technical skills of youth soccer players at a faster pace. NEF, under the direction of Bill Sampaio, will oversee all FC Boston Scorpions futsal programs including indoor training, clinics, futsal ID camps, tournaments and work with certifying the FC Boston Scorpions coaching staff with Futsal State and National licenses. Bill and his staff will be running training sessions with your coaches from Regional teams to ECNL. We look forward to having Bill actively involved with FC Boston Scorpions Girls programs.
Futsal gives you many more touches on the ball for faster development. Your technical ability is in overdrive, where you’re becoming technically sounder at a quicker pace because of the smallness of the field. Small field with lines puts players constantly under pressure from other players and out-of-play boundaries. Players must learn to settle the ball rapidly, turn sharply, shield effectively, pass quickly and move into open space. Compared to walled soccer or large indoor field soccer, Futsal places a greater premium on ball control. Players with the ball must use proper technique to maintain control and must seek out other players in space. Players without the ball must move to 'real' space and must truly support their teammates. Futsal is played as early as 3 years old and your daughters will see immediate benefits from playing during the winter and summer programs.
